There are still plenty of delicious restaurants and lively bars, but the streets are a little quieter and on the area is a little more reserved. Several International Schools are closely located which makes the area very family friendly.

Soi Ekkamai (Sukhumvit 63) also known as Ekamai runs all the way from Sukhumvit Road north to Petchaburi Road for 2.5km. The road links to nearby Thonglor and Sukhumvit 71, so whilst very convenient, this means that traffic can be pretty bad especially during rush hours. Luckily there is a BTS station so if you're commuting anywhere along the Sukhumvit area then it's quick and easy.
Generally Ekkamai is a very pleasant area to live in with international shops, quiet sub-soi's, and an abundance of bars and restaurants. It's also home to embassies, international schools, banks, and condo's and apartment's. There is a good mix of Thai and expat residents and a healthy community feel.
It's also a great location for anyone regularly travelling out of Bangkok with easy access to the expressway entrance and the Bangkok Eastern Bus Terminal just next to the BTS.
The Gateway Mall next to Ekkamai BTS is an 8 story shopping centre connecting to BTS Ekkamai. Although there aren't actually a huge number of shops, Gateway is popular for it's many Japanese style eateries and Harborland indoor play area on the top floor. Gateway is also the venue for the monthly Bangkok Farmers Market - great place to pick up delicious food.
Mikkeller Bangkok on Ekkamai Soi 10 is arguably one of the best bars to drink imported craft beers. With over 30 taps serving all manner of interesting (and often strong) beers, you won't be disappointed.
Those people looking to for a respite from the city can visit Ekkamai's temple Wat That Thong. In a large area with several buildings, the main temple houses a golden Buddha statue. Just next to BTS Ekkamai, the temple is usually open to visitors.

As with much of Bangkok, it's hard to find places which cater to pet owners. However Dog in Town on Ekkamai Soi 6 will let you come in and play with their own dogs! They have a large outside space and serve food and drink on site. Unfortunately your own dog can't come too :(
If you just want your dogs to be able to accompany you to dinner then try Mother May I will let them roam around their large gardens while you enjoy your meal.
There are very few pet-friendly condos in Ekkamai, but we've done our best to find a few which can accommodate.
Ekkamai is actually a great area to find a house for rent. Just a few minutes walk away from the main road you'll find lots of quiet residential sois with many large houses. Often these are in Moo Baans (gated villages) with security and shared facilities.
Land prices in Ekkamai are some of the highest in Bangkok so buying a house in the area doesn't come cheap. But if you're planning on renting for the long term and like the idea of a private house with garden close to all of Ekkamai's many features then call us and we'll be able to discuss your individual requirements and show you some excellent properties.
